Uluberia College has been continuously emphasizing on Library as one of the key learning resources. We have got an exclusive advisory committee for library. The main functions of the Library advisory committee are

To ensure that proper library services to be provided to the readers.
- To ensure that adequate, proper and cozy library fitting and furniture are made available in the Library.
- To ensure enough funds for purchasing the basic text books and journals.
- To frame a set of library rules which are flexible enough to suit the needs of the readers.
- To look after the proper use of library budget.

All the important matters relating to library are informed to the students and the faculty members through notification.

The infrastructural development of the library over the last five years are as follows :-

The process of Card catalogue has been introduced;

Catalogue cabinet has been bought and placed in the reading room;

A Library Software WINISIS, developed by DSIT, has been introduced;

Retrocoversion of library catalogue has been started;
-
Newly arrived books are catalogued both in card and automated forms;

In this financial year (2006-07) Internet Facility in the library has been introduced;

This year Book Bank for the students has been started;

Different books and magazines relating to career guidance are being kept in the library. The library has a Journal Display Cabinet and Newspaper Display Board to display the journals, newspaper and magazines.

In future we have a plan to purchase a multiuser version library software, i.e. SOUL, developed by INFLIBNET to automate all library in home-keeping work. Already we have made correspondence with INFLIBNET regarding this and have got a positive response from them;

We have also planned to go through UGC INFONET consortium to access the online journals.

- The Library ensures free access to the students at the library reading room from 10 A.M. - 5.00 P.M. for Day section and between 10.00 A.M. to 7.00 P.M. for evening and B.Ed. section. Two library cards are issued to the students - one reference card and another lending card. Hons. Students can borrow two books against - their lending card but the students of the general stream can borrow only one book. College staff can borrow 15 books at a time. The library catalogue has been retroconverted in automated format.
- The newly admitted students are oriented for proper use of the library catalogue by the library staff. Library staffs also try their best to help the users by giving them necessary information regarding the resources of the Library.
- The students have to pay a fine of 25 paise per day for over due date of the library book. If any book has been lost by the user, they have to replace the particular book.
- Computer and Internet facilities are available in the library. Reprographic facilities do not exist.
- In each academic session all the heads of the Departments make list of required books and journals. The librarian also makes list of books keeping in view the demands of the students. After consulting both the lists, order is placed to the vendor for purchasing the books.
- The lists of newly arrived books and journals are walled up in the notice board. The library has a Journal Display Cabinet and Newspaper Display Board to display the journals, newspaper and magazines.
- Our Library has at present no archives section.
- Students are allowed to use the Internet facilities between 11 A.M. to 5. P.M. on the working days. Faculty members use the Internet facilities between 11 A.M. to 7.00 P.M. on the working days regularly.
- library services are partly computerized.
- Library is kept open for a minimum of 180 days in an academic year. It is open at about 7 hours per day. Due to insufficient staff it is not possible to keep the library open in holidays.
