At the dawn of liberation of our beloved country from the foreign hands in 1947, few visionaries of this part of the country, undertook a Herculean task of freeing our society, from ignorance and showing a light to the society having fragile communal unity. Among such forerunners at that time was a man with clairvoyance – Late Sri Haripada Ghosal. His long cherished dream of having an institute of higher studies, opening its vista to all aspiring learners from diverse community, residing at the hinterland of this sub-divisional town, came to the fruition with the establishment of this college in 1948. A paradigm shift in seeking objective role in its mission of our educational institute has taken place since its inception fifty eight years back. Besides delivering its traditional mission of imparting general education, our Institute has now endeavored in its mission of nation building within the financial limitations and scarcity of human resources. |

Freedom of an educational institute like ours to undertake and execute any task is defined and monitored by statutory obligation of the University under whose governance it belongs. In spite of this constrain our institution tries to reflect its mission of nation building with a definite outlook (objectives) for the needs of the society where it is situated and for the students it seeks to serve. Our institution along with the fraternity of 15,000 Colleges of India, engaging in general education, aims at developing national unity and progress. The prime goal of the College is to stride forward with a promise to become an excellent undergraduate study centre, also seeking to introduce emerging branches of knowledge to keep pace with the time.
