Admission Notice 2011

 

  1. The admission process of the session 2011-2012 in the First year B.A., B.Sc. and B.Com. Honours and General Courses will start on 08.06.2011 (Wednesday) .

  2. Candidates will collect their Prospectus along with Application Form for all Honours  Courses from B.Ed. office (  By Axis Bank Ltd.) from 08.06.2011 to 16.06.2011 from 11:30 A.M. to 3:30 P.M(Except Sunday and Govt. Holidays).  producing Original marks-sheet and by paying Rs. 60/- (Rupees Sixty only).ONLY ONE Prospectus will be issued to each candidate against each original marks-sheet of HS or any equivalent examination produced by the candidate himself/herself or their legal Guardian only. Each  candidate can apply to a maximum of three(3) BA or B.Sc(pure)Honours subjects, two(2) in B.Sc(bio) Honours subjects  and one(1)  B. Com. Honours  subject through ONLY ONE APPLICATION FORM ALONG WITH the PROSPECTUS

  3. The candidates may collect Prospectus for General  Courses along with Admission Form from B.Ed. office ( By Axis Bank Ltd.) from 08.06.2011 to 16.06.2011 from 11:30 A.M. to 3:30 P.M(Except Sunday and Govt. Holidays) producing original marks-sheet of HS or any equivalent examination and by paying Rs. 50/- (Rupees Fifty only). Only One Prospectus will be issued to each candidate against each Original marks-sheet produced by candidate himself/herself or their legal Guardian only.

  4. In exception

    • if any student for B.Sc (H) wants  to apply for any subject in   BA (H),  He/She has to buy a separate prospectus.

    • if any student of B.Sc. (Pure) Hons  wants to apply for B.Sc (Bio)  Hons,  Or  vice-versa,  He / She has to buy a separate prospectus.


  5. If any candidate who purchases his/her  prospectus  has  individual marks which is below the marks as  mentioned in criteria, the college will not be responsible in any way. The price of the prospectus will also not be refunded.  Candidates are requested to collect their Prospectus keeping in mind the following criteria.

    • For B.A. and B.Sc. Honours candidates must have minimum 50% marks in Best Four subjects except ENVE and minimum 55% marks in Honours subject.

    • For B.Com. Honours candidates must have 50% marks in Best Four except ENVE and 45% marks in Honours subject.

    • For B.A., B.Sc. and  B.Com.  candidates seeking admission in General courses must have passed in Higher Secondary or  equivalent Examination.

  6. Criterion for S.C./ S.T. category in all streams are as follows:

    • For Honours candidates must have minimum 40% marks in Best Four except ENVE or minimum  40% marks in Honours subject.

    • For candidates seeking admission in General course must have passed Higher Secondary (H.S.) or equivalent Examination.

  7. Purchase of Prospectus by a candidate does not give any guarantee for admission in this college.

  8. Madhymik Admit card, H.S. Mark-sheet and Caste Certificate must be attested by the Headmaster/Headmistress of his/her last institution from where he/she passed H.S. examination or  equivalent Examination

  9. Candidates who will not be selected for admission in the Honours Course can fill up the additional form for General course attached with the Prospectus for admission in the General course following the University and College rules. In this regard a Notice for admission in General course may be published in the second week of July-2011.

    Each Hons. prospectus contains two forms(1 Hons and 1 General) with the same ID or Form No. Any applicant for Pass course cannot use the Pass course application form in the Hons prospectus of another applicant. If the ID or Form No. of two applicants are identical, both will be cancelled.


  10.  According to the rules of Calcutta University :

    • The certificates of S.C./S.T./O.B.C./PH must be signed and issued by D.M. or S.D.O. In exception the same certificates signed and issued by M.P., M.L.A. will also be considered as valid documents for admission.

    • those who have passed in Vocational course in H.S. (10+2) examination can be admitted in the B.A. General course only.

    • those who passed before the year 2008 in H.S. (10+2) exami-nation will not be eligible for admission.

    • those who are willing to admit in B.Sc. Pure Honours and General Course must pass in Mathematics in H.S. (10+2) examination.

    • those who are willing to admit in Chemistry Honours Course must pass in Physics and Mathematics in H.S. (10+2) examination.

    • those who are willing to admit in Zoology Honours Course must pass in Biology and Chemistry in H.S. (10+2) examination.

    • those who are willing to admit in Philosophy Honours Course or those who will take Philosophy as one of combination subjects, they cannot select Geography as one of the combination subject.

    • Candidates must secure 30 marks out of 100 in English in H.S. (10+2) examination.

      Candidates are responsible for calculation of the percentage of their Best Four marks during collection of Prospectus. During admission if the percentage of Best four marks and Honours marks does not support the eligibility criteria, the college authority will not be responsible and the student’s enrollment/ admission will stand cancelled.


    • Entire admission process will be executed according to the rules and regulations of Calcutta University and Uluberia College.

    • Duly filled-up Application Form for Honours Course and General Course will be submitted to the Room B1 of the college on stipulated date within 11.30 AM to 3.30 PM as mentioned on the top of each form.


      Only candidate or his/her legal Guardian will be allowed to submit individual  application form with proper signature.


    • In general or Pass course date of admission will be informed to each applicant during submission of application form

    • Draft Merit-list and waiting lists for Honours courses will be published in college notice space and college website tentatively on 28th June, 20011 within 2 P.M. to 4 PM. In unavoidable circumstances the date and time may be changed.

    • After publication of the Merit-list including waiting lists, candidates are advised to check the Merit-list within two days i.e. on 29.06.2011 and 30.06.2011 from 11:30 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. In case of any objection, candidates are requested to contact the admission committee with an application and valid supporting Original and Xeroxed documents for rectification.

    • Final merit list and waiting lists will be published on 1st July, 2011 within 2 PM to 4PM

    • Date , time and place of verification of documents, deposition of fees and required material will be mentioned in the merit list and waiting list for admission in specific number of seats in different Honours  courses

    • All the candidates in merit and waiting lists may be called at a time for admission according to their rank in the list to specific number of seats in different Hons subjects.

    • Please keep in mind if any enlisted candidate fail to appear on stipulated date and time in specific room with all necessary documents and admission fees his or her candidature will be cancelled.

    • Merit-list of all Honours subjects will be framed on the basis of Total of Best Four marks(Except ENVE) + subject marks opted for Honours obtained in the H.S (10+2)  or equivalent examination.

    • The students who have passed Higher Secondary or equivalent Examination-2008, 2009 & 2010 are also eligible for admission. But their total marks (i.e. total of Best Four marks and opted honours subject marks) will be reduced @ 10 % for each preceding year i.e. 10 % marks will be deducted for the candidates who have passed the said examination in the year 2010, 20 % marks will be deducted for the candidates who have passed the said examination in the year 2009 and 30 % for the candidates of 2008. According to Calcutta University rules The candidates who have passed the HS or equivalent examination in the year 2007 or before 2007 are not eligible for admission.

    • The Compartmental or C.C candidates are also eligible for admission. But their total marks will be reduced @ 5 % for each year of appearance in the said examination.

    • All available seats are reserved as per rules circulated by the Backward Classes Welfare Department, Govt. Of West-Bengal (i.e  22 %, 6 %, 3 %  of the available seats will remain reserved for S.C, S.T, Physically Challenged respectively). According to circular of Govt. of West Bengal, 905-TW/EC, dated 12th September, 1995 seats reserved for the SC and ST can be interchanged if there is any unfilled seats available for admission. The college will follow this instruction if necessary.

    • The entire admission schedule and process may change at any time due to certain Government Order and unavoidable circumstances with proper addendum notice by Admission Committee 2011-12. 

    • According to the decision of Governing Body the college is unable to provide any space for helping desk within the college campus

    • College authority will not be liable to any typological mistake.

    • Admission Committee has the independent right to resolve any dispute regarding admission within the periphery of Admission norms 2011-12 and their decision will be final. Explanation by Admission Committee about any point in the admission notice is final.

    • All admissions are provisional and the college authority has every right to cancel any candidate’s admission based on proper reasoning. The Admission Committee and authority are not bound to give any explanation to the respective candidate.

DATES, TIME and PLACE  ABOUT ADMISSION PROCESS:

 


(Dates, time and place can be changed due to any unavoidable circumstances with proper notice )

  1. Availability of Honours  and General(Pass)Prospectus along with the  Application form : 8th June to 16th  June 2011(Except Sunday and Govt Holidays), from 11.30 to 3.30 from B.Ed office counter by Axis Bank, .

    Due to some technical problems it is expected to issue a maximum of 1500 prospectuses per day. If any student fails to collect his or her prospectus on any day, they are requested to collect it on the next day till 16th June. The authority regrets any inconvenience that may occur.

  2. Date and place of Submission of Honours  and General (Pass) application form:  B1 room and date will remain Mentioned in the top of each application Form between 11.30 AM to 3. 30 PM

  3. Publication of draft merit list: 28th June, between 2 to 4 PM

  4. Posting of objection if any in merit list: 29th  and 30th  June, 2011 from 11.30 to 3.30 PM to admission Committee

  5. Publication of Final Merit list: 1st July 2011, between 2 to 4 PM

  6. Date, time, place and required materials including admission fees for Admission of enlisted candidate to Hons courses: Mentioned in the merit list

  7. Admission, deposition of admission fees along with verification of documents of General or Pass candidates will occur from 11.30 AM to 3.30 PM. The specific date will be informed when the application form will be submitted.

  8. For B.Com Pass and Hons : If you have the criteria mentioned above in this notice, appear with duly filled form, required original and Xeroxed documents,6 copies of passport size photograph (with blue background and 75% of photo occupied by face only) and required fees (Hons-Rs.1150/- and Pass- Rs 950/-) on 28th and 29th June within 12 noon to 2PM in BI room for direct admission.

  9. According to instructions issued by Calcutta University no admission will be registered after 5th August

  10. According to instructions issued by Calcutta University tentatively the academic session for 1st year students will start on 21st July.

Documents Required

 

The following original documents and attested  Xerox copies  attached  with application form are to be produced at the time of  submission  of  form

 

  1. Admit card of the Madhyamik or Equivalent examination in original and one copy attested by the Headmaster / Headmistress of the last school attended.

  2. Mark-sheet of the Higher Secondary or Equivalent Examination in original and one copy attested by the Headmaster/ Headmistress of the last school attended.

  3. 6 copies of recent passport size coloured photograph. (with blue background and 75% of photo occupied by face only)

  4. a) For SC/ST/ candidates, original SC/ST certificate  issued by DM/SDO, or certificate issued by MP/MLA/Panchayat Pradhan /Municipality Chairman will be accepted.  If original certificate issued by DM/SDO cannot be provided at the time of admission, original certificate issued by DM/SDO to candidate’s father/uncle/brother/sister should be provided as supporting documents. Preferably the candidate should provide original certificate issued by DM/SDO within three months from the date of admission.

    b) In case of OBC/PH candidates only the original certificate issued by DM/SDO would be accepted.
